Kiss The Cook owners Janet Galloway and Bren Kirschbaum have very different culinary styles, but they both share a love for cooking and good food. And, that's paved the way for an enduring friendship and business partnership.
"We are kind of like the old story of the Country Mouse and the City Mouse," says Kirschbaum, referrring to the classic children's tale. Kirschbaum grew up on a dairy farm in Colorado City, Texas, where she practiced hearty country cooking with fresh ingredients. Galloway grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she watched gourmet cooking shows on television, then started replicating the featured dishes at home.
Both Kirschbaum and Galloway say having their own kitchen store has been a learning experience. But it has also given them the opportunity to share their lifelong love of cooking. They are both adept at culinary detective work, seeking all sorts of kitchen tools and gadgets for their customers to help them explore their own creative cooking adventures.
"Hospitality and customer service are priorities," Galloway adds. "People come in here sharing cooking tips and recipes, looking for quality cookware and customer service. They always leave saying, 'I love this store!'"

Kiss The Cook , which opened its Wimberley, Texas store in October 2001, has been offering fine kitchenware and friendly, first-hand cooking advice to its customers for years. Originally located in the West Texas town of Abilene, Kiss the Cook quickly became a hometown favorite, twice voted the town's "Best Houseware/Kitchen Store" in the Abilene Reporter News' “Readers' Choice Awards.”
